Mrs.
Dabney Set to Retire; Mass on Wednesday to Honor Her
After
over thirty five of service to Catholic Schools, Mrs. Karen Dabney is
set to retire from her ministry of teaching. St. Roch Catholic
School is losing one its finest teachers and a person who has brought
joy to both students and staff members for many years.
Mrs.
Dabney is a graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College where she
earned a bachelors degree in elementary education. She later
earned her master’s degree from I.U.P.U.I. She has taught in
Mississippi, Warren Township, but has spent the majority of her
teaching career at St. Roch Catholic School.
Mrs.
Dabney is married to Tom and has three beautiful children Guy, Tammy,
and Brandon. Mrs. Dabney has four grandchildren (all boys!) and
plans on spending quality time with them upon retirement.
Fellow
teacher Mr. Gallamore paid tribute to Mrs. Dabney by stating, “Mrs.
Dabney has been a pleasure to teach with. Her professionalism
and dedication to her students will always be remembered. She
will be missed by all.”
This
Wednesday, June 1st
St. Roch Catholic School will hold a Mass in Mrs. Dabney’s honor.
Please join us as we celebrate her career and her service to
Catholic schools. Mass begins at 9:00 a.m. “During
this Mass we get to honor the hard work and love that Mrs. Dabney has
given to our school. She has loved and served our kids and her
co-workers. Her lifetime of devotion to the ministry of teaching will
be celebrated and honored,” said Principal Joe Hansen.
Please
join us as on Wednesday, June 1st as we recognize Mrs.
Dabney.

Roncalli
Summer Camps
Your
family should have received a booklet for Roncalli Summer Camps. As
you will notice, football and volleyball camps start the week of June
6th. St. Roch is very supportive of our students wanting to attend
these camps.
Because
we are still in school until Tuesday, June 7th, students who choose
to participate in these camps will not be counted as absent from
school. In many cases, students can be at school for part of the
instructional day. We do ask that the students promptly return
students after the camp is over. If you are carpooling with another
family, we will need written permission for your child to leave with
another parent.
Any
questions need to be directed to the school office at 784-9144.
