Junior
Scout Toy Drive
In
an effort to serve the poor in our Community and spread joy to
children this Christmas, The St. Roch Junior Scouts are sponsoring a
slightly used toy drive. We will be contributing to
Roncalli’s Toy Drive, which goes to Anna’s House.
We
challenge you to go through your toys. Please try to pick out
three to five slightly used toys to donate to the poor (no
stuffed animals please). Toys will need to be sent in to St.
Roch no later than Friday, December 10th.
Thank
you for your generosity,
The

Jingle
Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis – December 11,
2010
This
year’s 22nd annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is
being held in honor of St. Roch Kindergartner, Madison Harrigan, and
her dad, Greg Harrigan. Madison was diagnosed with juvenile
idiopathic arthritis at the age of 2 years. Greg was diagnosed
with osteoarthritis just a few years ago.
The
Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis is a 5K event that raises
awareness of the nation's most common cause of disability, while
raising desperately needed funds to find a cure for arthritis.
This fun event also includes a Santa Chase for younger children, a
costume contest, and lots of festive activities for the 3200
participants.
St.
Roch Girl Scout troops 1288, 561, and 846 are all supporting the
Harrigans at the event by singing Christmas carols during the
pre-race activities. If you would like to learn more about the
event, join the Harrigan Holidays team, form your own team, or make a
donation, please visit www.indyjinglebellrun.com
for more details.
Rhinehart
Family Account
As
many of you are aware, this Rhinehart family’s house caught on fire
late Halloween night. Fortunately, all family members evacuated
safely.
As expected with a fire this size, the house
sustained thousands of dollars in damages. Nearly all personal items
in the house were lost or destroyed by smoke.
Maria
Hughes, a friend of the Rhinehart family, has set up an account for
anybody wanting to make a cash donation. People wishing to make a
cash donation can go to any Huntington Bank location. The
account is set up as the Rhinehart
Family Fire Fund.
Please
continue to pray for the Rhinehart family.
Garden
Help Needed
St.
Roch Catholic School has plans to break ground on a garden in the
spring of 2011. The Father Wilmoth Giving Garden will be
located on school grounds. It will be built and maintained by
children, adults, and teachers.
The
goal of this garden is to empower children with the knowledge and
experience in the practice of sustainable living, the art of letting
nature look after your waste, and the joy of growing from seed to
harvest.
If
you would like to be a part of this committee our first meeting will
be held on Monday, November 22nd at 6:00 p.m. in the
school cafeteria. All are welcome.
Special
thanks to St. Roch parent Susan Noone for her vision in organizing
this project. We hope to see you on the 22nd!
