Rhinehart Family Suffer Loss in Fire

As many of you are aware, this Rhinehart family’s house caught on fire late Halloween night. Fortunately, all family members evacuated safely.

As expected with a fire this size, the house sustained thousands of dollars in damages. Nearly all personal items in the house were lost or destroyed by smoke.

Our goal is to work with the Rhinehart family and compile a list of items that need replacing. There is no doubt our community will respond to this family in need.

Until then, Lauri and Scott Rhinehart have asked that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Daughter Jessica is currently a 7th grader, while sons Aaron and Jake both attended St. Roch Catholic School.

Maria Hughes, a friend of the Rhinehart family, has set up an account for anybody wanting to make a cash donation. People wishing to make a cash donation can go to any Huntington Bank location.  The account is set up as the Rhinehart Family Fire Fund

Please pray for the Rhinehart family.

Be a Match for “Katie’s Hope”

Kathleen Lynch, parent of Roncalli junior Kaitlin Lynch, is requesting volunteers for an upcoming event.  Kaitlin has been battling Hodgkin's lymphoma for the  last 2 years and is currently preparing for a stem cell transplant - with a donor from the National Bone Marrow Registry.

In an effort to promote the need for people to be type tested to be on the National Bone Marrow Registry they are holding an event in Kaitlin's honor.  At this event there will be

volunteers on hand to help individuals register for FREE .  There is normally a $30 charge but we have enlisted funding to help defray the cost.

The bone marrow drive is to be held in St. Jude Cafeteria on November 13, 2010 from 12:30 – 4:30 pm.  Please come for a family fun-filled event that will include a Corn-hole tournament, free children’s games, food, drink, raffles, blood drive, and most important of all- FREE registration with the National Bone Marrow Registry.  The test only involves a simple cheek swab so please consider being a “Hero” to someone in need of a life-saving transplant.  If you would like to donate raffle items or funds to help cover the cost of the testing, please contact Peggy Murphy @ 694-9070 or Kathleen Lynch @    783-7119.

Mass Attendance Tips

Here are some ways to help your family get to Mass every week:

Is it on the calendar? For many families the weekly calendar of soccer games and meetings is essential.  Find a Saturday evening or Sunday Mass time that fits; write it in early in the week.  Schedule other activities around the Mass time you have picked.

Make a family commitment: Talk about your goal of weekly Mass attendance with your kids.  Challenge each other to hold to it.

Stay matter of fact:   Faith development is as important as learning reading or math.  Approach going to Mass with kids as you do going to school:  This is what we do.  It is nonnegotiable.
